“Placing sovereignty back into our food systems and communities by creating intentional, culturally rooted food experiences.”

— Our philosophy here at The Wholesome Conscious

Aanii/Boozhoo/Greetings.

I’m

Alexandria, Founder of

The Wholesome Conscious

My relationship with food has always been intuitive. I was the child sneaking extra fruits and vegetables from the fridge, coming home with scraped knees from playing outside all day, and falling asleep mid-bite; nourished, curious, and deeply connected to my body and environment. From an early age, health felt less like a rulebook and more like a way of living.

As an Anishinaabe Kwe, Ojibwe woman, and trained Holistic Nutritionist, my approach to food is rooted in balance - honouring nourishment not just as fuel, but as a source of connection, culture, and care. Food has always been how my family gathers, celebrates, and looks after one another. The Wholesome Conscious was born from a desire to extend that feeling beyond our own tables.

Before entering the world of catering, my earliest entrepreneurial work lived in cultural education. I spent years facilitating public speaking engagements, Fancy Shawl dance workshops, and collaborating with school boards across the GTA - sharing Anishinaabe teachings, stories, and lived experiences with students, educators, and communities. That work revealed the power of storytelling through Indigenous ways of knowing, and it continues to shape how I integrate our ways of knowing into my catering once I stepped into the culinary space.

My entry into catering was unplanned -almost accidental. While attending a speaking engagement alongside my mother, Kim Wheatley, I was mistaken as a caterer. Instead of correcting the assumption, my mom encouraged me to give it a try. I gave myself six months, set clear goals, and promised that if I met them, I would commit fully. What began as a single “yes” quickly revealed itself as a natural extension of everything I was already doing: storytelling, nourishment, and connection through shared experience.

In 2021, after the birth of my daughter, my relationship with food, wellness, and purpose deepened in ways I couldn’t have anticipated. Motherhood reshaped how I understood nourishment - not just as something we consume, but as something we model, protect, and pass on. It reinforced my belief that wellness is cyclical, generational, and deeply intertwined with the environments we create.

Today, The Wholesome Conscious exists at the intersection of Indigenous knowledge, holistic nutrition, and modern catering. Every menu is created with intention - supporting energy, balance, and connection - while remaining grounded, comforting, and inclusive. This is food meant to sustain real life: gatherings, celebrations, corporate spaces, and community moments alike.

At its heart, The Wholesome Conscious exists to offer wholesome, consciously created menus that are thoughtful, intentional, and deeply rooted in purpose - delivering food experiences that resonate far beyond the meal itself and leave a lasting impression on those gathered around the table.

Miigwech (Thank you) for being here.
